Case Study Overview

Problem

The company needed to identify the possible causes of a protracted issue that had been limiting production in the TEG dehydration systems at a West African offshore oil and gas processing facility.

Solution

Data from equipment sensors along with covariate information were input to our causal algorithms for analytics to determine possible cause and effect relationships. The data covered several periods where degraded performance had occurred that were difficult to identify with traditional analytics or remained unexplained.

Successful Outcome

The algorithms pinpointed locations in the process where fouling liquids were impacting compressor performance and when.  Other unknown causes were found in addition to the de-liquidiser issue. This led to recommendations to fix the problems and implement preventative maintenance measures, which led to further cost efficiencies.
